World Breastfeeding Week

World Breastfeeding Week

The significance of breastfeeding can never be overemphasized as it remains key to improving the health, development, and survival of infants and children, and improvement of the wellbeing of mothers in the short and long term.

Therefore, intentional concerted efforts must continually be made to reinforce breastfeeding knowledge by prioritizing and improving access to skilled counselling for breastfeeding through health education.

As we celebrate the World Breastfeeding Week, we advocate the strengthening of capacities of all actors that make up the warm chain of support for breastfeeding by equipping them with information necessary to provide and sustain breastfeeding-friendly healthcare facilities, supportive communities and workplace for nursing mothers in the post pandemic world.

We believe stepping up for breastfeeding this way will go a long way in transforming existing breastfeeding support systems.

Happy World Breastfeeding Week!
