Bearing in mind that the youth population will grow by more than 78 million between 2021 and 2030 with low income countries accounting for nearly half of that increase, there is a need for education and training systems to actively plan and respond to this challenge.
This year, we join others in highlighting the essential role that teachers, trainers and other educators play in providing skills for the transitioning of youth to the labour market and in equipping them for active participation in the development of their communities, societies and nation.
Therefore, we admonish everyone to unite in identifying the potential of young people as catalysts for change so we all can shape a brighter future where no young person is left behind.
Happy World Youth Skills Day!
