Green transition which is a shift towards an environmentally sustainable and climate-friendly world will result in the creation of 8.4 million jobs for young people by 2030. This is noteworthy considering the fact that 50% of the people on our planet are 30 years or younger, with a projection to reach 57% by the end of 2030, according to the United Nations. This makes it imperative for young people to be adequately infused with green skills to navigate the current changing landscape and age imbalance in politics; as most of them look and work towards a better future. Green skills can never be overemphasized as they are technical knowledge, abilities, values and attitudes that enable the effective use of green technologies and processes for work and life in a way that facilitates environmental sustainability.
This year, we renew our commitment towards empowering young people with green skills so they are equipped not only for the security of their future and active contribution to the gobal climate crisis but also for the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Happy International Youth Day!
