World Blood Donor Day

As we mark the World Blood Donor Day today, we celebrate and appreciate individuals who donate blood and encourage more people to become new donors.

We also encourage others in good health to donate blood as often as is safe and possible; so the quality of life for transfusion dependent patients can be transformed, and a secure and sustainable blood supply can be attained for access to safe blood and blood products for all populations.

Let us remember that the need for blood is universal but access to blood is not, especially in low and middle-income countries.
