The United Nations reports that we are using the equivalent of 1.6 Earths to maintain our current way of life, with the ecosystems unable to keep up with our demands. It also reported that our lifestyles are associated with two-thirds of all greenhouse gas emissions.
It is therefore imperative for every one of us to take intentional actions that will transform our environment by building our structures properly, living sustainable eco-friendly lifestyles, and investing our resources in making the environment better.
As we join others in celebrating the World Environment Day this year, we enjoin governments at all levels, financial institutions, businesses, international organizations, and other larger entities to initiate and strengthen existing policies that will bring about lasting environmental protective changes on energy systems, production systems, global trade, and transport systems.
