Today, as we celebrate the resilience and creativity of youths throughout the COVID-19 crisis, the importance of continous equipping of young people with skills for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship can never be overemphasized. Moreso that education and training are key to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda.
We therefore advocate a sustained interaction between young people, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions, industries, employers’ and employees’ organizations, policymakers and development partners – even as COVID-19 pandemic continue to disrupt the TVET sector.
The TVET sector that is central to youth skills development still has a long road to recovery. Therefore, solutions need to be geared towards strengthening the TVET sector to ensure that skills gaps are bridged and skills development remain a continuum for the youth.
Our role we will continue to play in this regard!
Happy World Youth Skills Day!
